Back to the Classics Challenge 2022

Last year I started strong with the Back to the Classics Challenge, but due to family circumstances didn’t get my reviews written. Half way through the year, we found out we were having our 11th blessing, which we were thrilled to discover, but morning sickness and fatigue kept my reading time low as I was often napping or taking care of our other children. Therefore I did not come close to completing the challenge.

This year, I am trying again with the Back to the Classics Challenge 2022 with Karen’s Books and Chocolate. I have already read a couple and am reading another with my children, so by God’s grace I’ll get 12 classics in this year!

For 2022 our categories are:

  1. A 19th Century Classic
  2. A 20th Century Classic
  3. A Classic by a Woman Author
  4. A Classic in Translation
  5. A Classic by BIPOC Author
  6. Mystery/Detective/Crime Classic
  7. A Classic Short Story Collection
  8. Pre-1800 Classic
  9. A Nonfiction Classic
  10. Classic That’s Been on Your TBR List the Longest
  11. Classic Set in a Place You’d Like to Visit
  12. Wild Card Classic

Thus far I’ve read The Greatest Saleman in the World and A Little House Christmas Treasury (reviews to come) and I’m reading Walk the World’s Rim with my children currently.

Other Classics I’m considering for this:
Invisible Man
G.K. Chesterton Collection
Little Women
The City of God
Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglas
Pilgrim’s Progress

Other suggestions welcome. I am seeking to read classics I already have that I have not read yet for the most part, but I am open to a good suggestion if it meets a category I don’t have.

What classics are you reading?
